When you’re afraid, just train! When something doesn’t feel right, just train! When you don’t believe in yourself anymore, just train! The only thing that won’t betray you is your training. – Shio Sakaki
I don’t know myself sometimes. I’ve spent so many days fucking up. The only thing I never regret is training. It’s funny how short the period of instant gratification lasts before it turns into regret.
Training is the only thing I can trust. I like stability.
Training = stability…because there has never been a time in my life and I’m saying not even once that I’ve regretted training. And training could be training my mind, my body, my emotions, my intuition, my business, etc. Training is doing any activity that has to do with evolution.
I’m sure some are reading this thinking: “You’re too anal. You’re always thinking about training. Life isn’t all about training.”
That is a response I get often from people who hear me speak. Funny thing is that usually the people who tell me that I’m too anal are living mediocre lives be it their health, their relationships, their finances, etc.
Plus and this is a huge PLUS: I’m not even that anal at all! Every day, I give myself time for leisure. Every week I take the time to socialize and spend time with loved ones. So there is a definite period of a few hours every week that I give myself time to play and recharge. I’m not “go-go-go” all the time…I’m sure there are many people WAY more anal than me. I’ll even be honest with you…I don’t think I’ve ever worked for 12 hours straight before. Like, I mean work-work, like full hustle the entire time. That is something that is a daily reality for some entrepreneurs…So therefore, I would go as far as saying that I’m not anal enough sometimes. I think that I should hustle harder and longer on occasion. But that’s for a different post.
In this world full of distraction, there are too many opportunities to self-indulge. And every time I self-indulge without discipline, regret comes as surely as blood after a cut. Training is the only thing I can rely on because after training, evolution & growth (no matter how small) is always the result.
I’m sure that there are exceptions to training being something you can never possibly regret. But they’re are so exceptional that they’re barely worth mentioning. Nevertheless, an example of regretting training would be: if you chose to work on your business that day and you missed out on being there for your wife when she was giving birth. Or if you trained without being careful which resulted in a serious injury (which isn’t regretting training but simply regretting how you trained).
There is an old expression that i don’t fully agree with yet serves as a good entry into this post: “The only 2 things that are certain in life are death & taxes.” I want to add to that quote and it’s that: If I’m looking for stability, growth purpose, self-esteem, and certainty; I always find it in training.
If I’m looking for stability, growth, purpose, self-esteem, and certainty; I always find it in training.
Training is the only thing that isn’t deceptive. Taking action is the answer to all your problems.
Don’t wait forever to realize this truth. I keep making the same mistake over and over again expecting different results. My intention is to rise above this tendency and I hope this helped.
