I don’t want to hustle my life away like some isolated coder in silicon valley locked in his office 24/7 eating nothing but top ramen while letting his health go to shit. I take things slowly and move towards success while enjoying my life. Every day I move at an enjoyable pace to success. Every day I do something to make my life better in each area. Every day I do one thing for my business, health, relationships, and happiness.
During other phases of my life, I may pick up the pace and hustle more intensely though.
Just like there are different seasons in the year, there are different phases where I vary the degree to which I hustle. I may even pull an all-nighter occasionally.
Why would I want to be 40 before I’m 40? I want to enjoy the progression of life. At the end we die anyway so why torture myself day after day? I rather flow towards success instead of suffer towards success.
There is a time to suffer and push hard but I rather do that in phases instead of making it the norm.
You may need to hustle like a madman at times but it depends on your phase of life. Why hustle like a madman if your business is already bringing you enough money for you to live your ideal lifestyle?
If the stakes aren’t very high yet, why bother grinding yourself into misery? I rather become successful a bit slower and enjoy life more.
You always hear about the entrepreneur who hustles twenty-hours-a-day and only sleeps four hours.
Plus grinding and hustling 24/7 isn’t realistic for a lot of people. Taking on this sort of mindset may result in burnout because of the misery. What happens when you burn out?
You don’t feel like getting out of bed or doing anything…you get REALLY lazy…
So you end up taking a break which never seems to end.
At the end, who wins? The turtle or the hare?
If you are consistent and you keep putting in work be it at a gradual pace, my belief is that you will eventually get to your destination just as the turtle won the race.
Enjoy life and hustle,

Thanks for this article…. it’s an important aspect of life to remember, because this exact thing has happened to me the past couple years: I’ve been so caught up in wanting to make money/have multiple sources of income that life has kind of passed me by the past couple years. And I finally stopped to realize “Crap, I’ve been so consumed and busy that I have hardly experienced much of life at all for awhile !” So yes this is a great perspective to have about life, periods of hard work but it’s also important to have periods of fun/excitement to balance everything out
Yes, 100%. Life must be enjoyed even if it means becoming successful a bit slower. Glad you enjoyed this.
